2014 Proof Silver Eagle Coins Surpass 500,000 in Sales

One U.S. Mint numismatic silver coin had another hot week of sales, per the most recent stats from the bureau, and surpassed a major sales achievement in the process. In shooting up by 17,652, the 2014-W Proof Silver Eagle in three months passed the 500,000 milepost in total sales.

By Sunday, April 27, 2014, sales for the popular one ounce proof silver coin hit 501,727. The high-selling trend is likely to continue if previous years are any indication. By the time the US Mint halted sales of last year’s Proof Silver Eagle, consumers purchased 868,494 of them, and for the 2012 issue, the final figure had landed at 832,779. Last year’s proof Silver Eagle, by the way, was at 431,375 through its first three months.

The next biggest numismatic seller for the week was the 2014-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle coin, which gained 3,685 to hit 115,043. It is still somewhat new to the sales chart, given the fact that it debuted on April 10.

Last but not least, bullion Silver Eagles chartered as well into a noteworthy level last month, as reported yesterday. At over 18.4 million for the year so far, this year’s coin is selling quicker than any past issues. A closer look at the bullion stats can be found here.
