It did not take long for the 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Silver Coins to sell out. Orders for the coins hit their max on Wednesday, April 9, after being on the market less than two weeks.

2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins

2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins are produced in six options. The silver and gold coins have sold out, leaving two clad half dollars as the only ones available from the U.S. Mint. The image above shows proofs of the silver dollar, clad half dollar and the $5 gold coin.

Customers still wanting one of the curved coins straight from the U.S. Mint can sign up on the silver dollars’ "waiting lists," or they can purchase the clad half dollar versions.

Update: The silver coins officially sold on April 21, 2014.

These commemoratives, celebrating the diamond anniversary of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, went on sale March 27, 2014. Per the coin act authorizing the U.S. Mint to make them, up to 400,000 silver dollars could be sold, and according to the U.S. Mint’s latest published silver coin sales as of Wednesday morning, 257,183 of the proof and 133,696 of the uncirculated had already been ordered. The remaining 9,121 dollars were scooped up by the end of the day.

As of today, April 10, the U.S. Mint is still accepting orders for the silver coins at www.usmint.gov/catalog, but only by waiting list. Those on the waiting list have a chance to receive one of the baseball coins if an earlier order is canceled. The Mint’s website states:

Waiting List Notice: The number of orders we have taken meets the maximum limit for the 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Uncirculated Silver Dollar. You may still place an order for this product, which will go on a waiting list. If a product becomes available because of an order cancellation, we will fulfill orders from the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot provide information about your position on the waiting list.

The gold baseball coins were the first to sell out. That happened within the first 24 hours of sales. While they were more expensive, their mintage was much lower at 50,000. The 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Clad Half Dollars have a way to go before they could sell out. Their mintage is much higher at 750,000 with a total of 170,211 sold by Wednesday morning. Prices are $19.95 for the proof version and $18.95 for the uncirculated version.

In the table below are the latest sales stats for collector silver coins and related products from the U.S. Mint. Sunday, April 6, 2014 is the “as of” date for everything except for the Baseball Hall of Fame Silver Coins. Those are as of Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014.
