2016 Shawnee 5 Oz Bullion Coins on a Roll

The biggest movers in the silver collectible category on the United States Mint sales charts were the commemorative 2016 Mark Twain Silver Dollars.

In U.S. Mint bullion products, the week’s supply of 2016 American Silver Eagles again sold quickly and 2016 Shawnee National Forest 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins are on a roll with sales the highest since 2011.
For the second week in a row, the U.S. Mint’s entire weekly allocation of bullion Silver Eagles were swept up by Wednesday, which totaled 1,000,000 coins this time. Year-to-date sales reached an even 8,000,000 coins. Last year’s release ended at a record 47 million coins, and sales through the same time period logged a lower total of 6,919,000 coins.
2016 Shawnee 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins have jumped to 75,000 units or 375,000 ounces since their sales started on February 1. That is the most sold in the 5-ounce America the Beautiful coin series since 2011 and the coin commemorating Olympic National Park in Washington. It ended with sales of 104,900 coins. The Shawnee piece could top that with its higher likely limit of 120,000. The last three issues from 2015 reached sales of 45,000 each, which was considered high at the time.
Finally, new sales of Mark Twain Silver Dollars pushed the proof’s total up by 3,998 to 37,198 and the uncirculated up 1,926 to 14,576. Together their sales equal 51,774 out of a possible mintage of 350,000.
The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the U.S. Mint. Sunday, February 7, is the as of date for the collectibles and Thursday, February 11, is the as of date for the bullion products.
