American Silver Eagle bullion coins have year-to-date sales of 25,795,000. With three months left in the year, 2012 is already firmly in the fourth position as the best sales year ever, and that dates back to the program’s start in 1986.

It appears likely that 2012 will at least reach the third best spot, a position currently held by 2009 with 28,766,500. In order to reach the number two spot, the last three months of this year would have to average sales of over 2,955,833 coins. At that pace, 2010’s number of 34,662,500 would be surpassed.
