The three best selling silver coin products from the U.S. Mint did not change from the prior week, the most recent weekly sales data revealed.

2012 Making American History Coin and Currency Set

Sales of the 2012 Making American History Coin and Currency Set actually declined, US Mint sales stats show

During the end of the holiday rush, the 2012 Silver Proof Set took the top spot, followed by the 2012-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle coin and 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set.

Consumers swooped in and bought 9,820 of the 2012 Silver Proof Sets during the final week of purchases that could wind up under Christmas trees or stuffed in stockings. By far, the sets were the biggest stand-outs among the U.S. Mint’s silver products. With their latest sales jump, a total of 383,696 have sold since their debut on June 4.

The next most popular sellers were the 2012-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle coins and 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Sets, which added 3,976 and 2,583 to their respective totals. The Silver Eagles are up to 179,181 and the limited sets hit 26,937.

The only oddity in the group was the Making American History Coin & Currency Set. Its sales fell by -1,327 from 53,645 down to 52,318. The set contains a 2012-S Proof American Silver Eagle coin and a Series 2009 $5 note with a serial number beginning with 150. Possible explanations for the sudden reversal include returns and order cancellations.
