Silver Ends Week with 48-cent Gain

It was a positive week for precious metals. London silver ended higher for the fourth consecutive week, closing to $13.37 an ounce. The metal climbed 48 cents for a 3.7 percent rise over last’s Friday’s close of $12.89.

US silver coin sales increased compared to those reported last week, with the 2008-dated Mint Silver Proof Set jumping by 7,483, or 2.53 percent. To date, over 709,000 have been sold.

Silver Prices Rise 3% for the Week

Silver prices marched higher on the week as did platinum and palladium. Gold, however, turned slightly lower. The London Silver Fix ended Friday at $12.51 an ounce, gaining 38 cents, or 3.0 percent from last Friday’s close of $12.51.
