On Tuesday, August 11, the United States Mint at noon EDT will begin selling the 2015 Dwight D. Eisenhower Coin & Chronicles Set with its silver medal, $1 coin, and stamp.

[Shown: 2015 Dwight D. Eisenhower Coin and Chronicles Set]

The set may be purchased for $57.95 and it has a product limit of 17,000, the same price and limit as the prior 2015 Harry S. Truman Coin & Chronicles Set which sold out in under 15 minutes. This set has a lower household ordering limit of 2 instead of the 5 like the Truman set.

For most collectors, the set’s highlight is its reverse proof $1 coin. It is exclusive to the set and is only the second one ever issued in the dollar series. Reverse proof coins showcase frosty fields and raised mirror-like devices, which is opposite of the finish on standard proof coins from the U.S. Mint.

Joining the reverse proof is a one-ounce, .999 fine Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential silver medal. Both the coin and silver medal are produced at the U.S. Mint’s facility in Philadelphia but just the coin has the corresponding ‘P’ mintmark.

Rounding out the Chronicles Set is a 1969 U.S. 6-cent Truman postage stamp and an informative booklet about the five-star general and 34th President of the United States. Included items are presented together in a blue display folder composed of a soft-touch material.

This set is the second of four for this year. Other issues and their release dates are:

  • 2015 Harry S. Truman Coin & Chronicles Set – Released on June 3, 2015
  • 2015 John F. Kennedy Coin & Chronicles Set – September 15, 2015
  • 2015 Lyndon B. Johnson Coin & Chronicles Set – October 2015

All 2015-dated issues will include a reverse proof coin honoring, a stamp and a silver medal.

  1. Dwight says:

All 17,000 sets quickly sold out within 10 minutes.

  2. Dwight says:

After the mad frenzy sell out of all 17.000 sets earlier today, ebay scalpers have now been reselling these sets from $179 to $330 per set although they originally cost $57.95 each.

  3. Dwight says:

On their first day of release Tuesday August 11, 2015, the U.S. Mint’s issue price was $57.95 for a 2015 Eisenhower Coin & Chronicles Set. That same day ebay seller discountprices815 was able to resell them for $399 each as Item #291537319327. $399 – $57.95 = +$241.05 Windfall Profit.

  4. Jerry says:

The US Mint should hide their heads in shame on how they released both the Truman and Eisenhower Chronicles sets. 17000 sets!!, one could have predicted the “selling frenzy” that would occur on ebay and leave the rest of their core collector-customer base holding nothing.
