Exceptions included the Grand Canyon Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, the Medal of Honor uncirculated dollar, and the 2011 Proof Silver Eagles.
2011 Proof Silver Eagles led the sales pack with an addition of 8,944, but that was down from the 10,593 climb in the prior round. A slowdown was expected though, as its price increased by $8.50 on August 29 to $68.45. They have also been on sale for about nine weeks now, which means many collectors have already made their purchase. At last count, the total amount of proof Silver Eagles sold was 735,865. Read More…

The United States Mint on Friday began rolling out a sea of suspensions across its collector products that affected four silver sets and nearly a dozen numismatic gold coins.

American Silver Eagle Bullion Coin
Sales of the American Silver Eagle bullion coins were remarkable in August 2011, racking up numbers good enough to qualify it as the best August ever. And if that was not impressive enough, August sales also catapulted the month to the all-time fourth highest in the history of the U.S. Mint’s American Silver Eagle program.
The United States Mint recorded 3,679,500 of the one-ounce bullion Silver Eagles sold to its network of authorized purchasers in August. That number literally shattered the previous August record established just last year when a very respectable 2,451,000 were ordered. Read More…
US Mint Sales: Grand Canyon 5 Oz Officially Sells Out, Silver Coins Ease
August 31, 2011 by Silver Coins Today Staff · Leave a Comment

It became official Wednesday, August 31, the United States Mint declared the Grand Canyon Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin "sold out." The coin moved to the Mint’s online “No Longer Available” page in the afternoon. The change seemed belated, since more than 27,000 had been ordered. 154 extra sold in the previous round of sales and another 620 were taken in this round, totaling 27,774 in the newest edition of US Mint sales figures. No waiting list was ever announced for the Grand Canyon issue, unlike the multiple warnings made for the previous Yosemite five ounce coin.
As for other silver coins in the US Mint’s line up, only one came out above its previous weekly sales increase, despite the wild ride that silver took in the precious metals market and all the attention that came with it. The 2011 Medal of Honor uncirculated silver dollar erupted by 1,562 compared to its prior gain of 89. Read More…
