Yosemite Coin Wait List Returns, Proof Silver Eagle Sales Soar

The United States Mint sent the following image of the 2010-P Yosemite National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin within an e-mail to customers promoting the coin’s  release.Collectors ordered the final Yosemite National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins in the last few days, per the United States Mint’s recently reinstated wait list notice on its online ordering page.

The wait list had inadvertently appeared once before, but the Mint removed it last week along with Yosemite coin ordering limits. The move must have caused a stir, since another 1,402 sold in seven days, leaving just 260 available as of Monday, July 18. Read More…

The United States Mint on Friday at noon ET removed the order limits for 2011 American Silver Eagle proof coins. The Mint released the collectible proof on Thursday, June 30, for a price of $59.95. From its launch and until Friday, an order limit of 100 coins per household was in effect.

With the order limits removed, buyers may purchase as many of the silver coins as they want. Order limits are typically enforced on new US Mint products to ensure that they can be purchased by as many buyers as possible, without worries of a sell out. Read More…

The hottest selling US Mint numismatic product continues to be 2011 Proof Silver Eagle coins, according to the Mint’s latest sales stats. Collectors purchased another 40,368 of the popular coins during their first full week of availability. The Proof Silver Eagle was released on June 30. Their new total after 12 days on the market surged beyond the 400,000 marker, ending at 407,991.

The next two biggest silver numismatic sellers were the 2011 Silver Proof Set, registering an increase of 2,703 to 429,657, and the 9/11 medals with their weekly increase of 2,611 which brought them to 62,225. Read More…

Buyers will soon be able to get their hands on the final 2011 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin which honors the Chickasaw National Recreation Area located in the south central part of the great state of Oklahoma.

According to a memorandum sent out Tuesday by the United States Mint to its established network of silver Authorized Purchasers (AP’s), orders will be accepted for the new Chickasaw bullion coin on Monday, July 18, 2011. The 2010-P Yosemite Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin has not sold out, as previous reported on this site and others. An official from the United States Mint on Tuesday stated that the waiting list for the coin was removed as well as its one coin per household order limit.

Yosemite’s silver coin debuted June 9. In a matter for four days, 76% of its inventory left US Mint shelves. Then, the waiting list appeared on the Mint’s online ordering page on June 23. But the move was an error as the orders had not reached their maximum 27,000 mintage. The mistaken waiting list notice was overlooked for nearly three weeks. Read More…

2011 American Silver Eagle Bullion Coin

June’s monthly sales total for 2011 American Silver Eagle bullion coins hit two milestones in the .999 fine silver series.

The United States Mint sold a total of 3,402,000 Silver Eagles to their network of Authorized Purchasers for the month. The sales figure earned the title of the best ever June and ranked 7th place in all-time monthly sales.

June 2011 snuck ahead of the previous June record set last year by 401,000 or 13.3%. June 2010’s total was 3,001,000. Gains such as this have nearly been routine this year. The only month in 2011 that did not outperform its corresponding month in 2010 was March, which was 2,767,000 versus 3,381,000. Read More…
