Introduced by members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate is a bill authorizing the United States Mint to strike up to 400,000 Mother’s Day Centennial Silver Dollars in 2014. There was a stark contrast between the newest United States Mint numismatic product and the annual silver sets. The debuting 2010-P Hot Springs 5 oz. Uncirculated Silver Coin lead sales while the sets spiraled down during their sales suspension.

US Mint sets struggled and lost sales. The Mint suspended the 2010-dated Silver Proof Set and America the Beautiful (ATB) Quarters Silver Proof Set around April 9. Then they halted the 2011-dated sets on April 18. In this round of weekly sales figures, the 2011 ATB Silver Proof Set plummeted by -70, the 2011 Silver Proof Set dropped by -54, the 2010 Silver Proof Set fell by -14, and the 2010 ATB Silver Proof Set slid by -2. A sell out of the Hot Springs 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin produced for coin collectors could be called within days, based on the latest sales figures.

The United States Mint has indicated that approximately 25,000, or 92.5%, of the available 27,000 have been sold as of late afternoon Monday, May 2.

The 5 ounce silver uncirculated coin went on sale Thursday, April 28, at 12:00 noon Eastern Time for $279.95. A brisk ordering pace brought sales to more than 19,000 by Thursday evening.

Opening demand was high for the Hot Springs 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin which went on sale Thursday, April 28, for $279.95. By evening, only a few thousand were left, indicating a sell out is likely fast approaching.

United States Mint spokesman Michael White said that the Mint had taken more than 19,000 total orders of the Hot Springs coin by 9 PM Eastern Time.
