US Mint Sales: 2010-P Hot Springs 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coins Lead

Hot Springs Five Ounce Silver Coin

There was a stark contrast between the newest United States Mint numismatic product and the annual silver sets. The debuting 2010-P Hot Springs 5 oz. Uncirculated Silver Coin lead sales while the sets spiraled down during their sales suspension.

US Mint sets struggled and lost sales. The Mint suspended the 2010-dated Silver Proof Set and America the Beautiful (ATB) Quarters Silver Proof Set around April 9. Then they halted the 2011-dated sets on April 18. In this round of weekly sales figures, the 2011 ATB Silver Proof Set plummeted by -70, the 2011 Silver Proof Set dropped by -54, the 2010 Silver Proof Set fell by -14, and the 2010 ATB Silver Proof Set slid by -2.

The US Mint reported on Monday they have almost sold out of the 2010-P Hot Springs Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. Demand has been strong, as approximately 25,000 of the available 27,000 have sold since the uncirculated collector coin launched on Thursday, April 28. Like the bullion versions intended for investors, the uncirculated coin features a composition of .999 fine silver and a diameter of three inches.

Also doing well in US Mint sales were the commemorative Medal of Honor and US Army silver dollars. All four outperformed last week’s gains. The proof Medal of Honor Silver Dollar picked up the most with 3,990. In the last round, it had risen 3,907. The proof Army Silver Dollar increased by 2,393 and the uncirculated MOH climbed 1,666. Both had advanced by 1,818 and 1,319 previously. Even the uncirculated Army coin jumped by 819 compared to its prior 560 gain.

In bullion news, US Mint Authorized Purchasers (AP) did not take all of the 2011 Gettysburg and Glacier America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins in the first week, but they are getting close. At last count, they ordered 237,800 of the 253,000 available coins. The AP’s also took in another 654,000 American Silver Eagles, which moved 2011 Eagle sales up to 15,902,000.

my ATB 2010 Hot Springs (NP1) was delivered today.
Question: the USMint website scheduled product listing lists 9 future ATB 5 ounce silver coins to be released this year. the release dates are TBA. given that there are approximately 31 weeks (7+ months) left in the year, a coin would have to be released every three weeks or so to keep to this schedule. does anyone have any idea how these future ATB 5 ounce coins might be released; i.e. individually or in groups?

Considering they’re releasing the 2010 coins in 2011, I don’t think there is an exact schedule. Although, it appears the 2nd coin of the bunch is being released in just a few days. So perhaps you may be right, they might be releasing 1 every 2-3 weeks..
