Weekly Silver UpdateSilver prices ended on stronger notes through the final three weeks of February after having tumbled nearly 20% during the three prior weeks, and by more than $1 in the first week of the month alone.

Despite gold declining slightly over the past week, silver — which often follows the yellow metal — was higher in both New York and London with respective weekly gains of 0.7% and 1.1%. Read More…

US Mint silver coin sales stats2010 American Silver Eagle bullion coins were stuck for a week at 1.25 million for the month of February. That changed Wednesday afternoon when United States Mint sales figures showed that they popped up another 800,000.

Weekly Silver UpdateSilver rallied for a second straight week after plunging nearly 20% during the three prior weeks.

New York silver futures surged ahead 6.3% since last Friday while the fix in London boosted the metal by 4.0% during the same time period.

US Mint Directory Ed MoyWith only a few months before the anticipated release of the first America the Beautiful Quarter honoring Hot Springs National Park, the United States Mint appears to be struggling with production issues regarding the companion silver bullion series.

Dictated by the same law that authorized the quarters, the US Mint is required to produce five-ounce silver strikes in a three inch diameter for, which they have dubbed, the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin Program.
