Silver Eagle Two-Coin Set Weekly Sales Top 2012 Silver Proof Set

It was a tight sales race for the number one spot among the United States Mint numismatic silver products. The weekly winner was the 2012-S American Silver Eagle Two-Coin Set, beating out the 2012 Silver Proof Set by 138 orders. Their gains were 14,164 and 14,026 respectively.

The Silver Eagle Two-Coin Set launched on June 7, 2012 and it will remain available for another 16 days until the cut-off for orders occurs on July 5. 2012 Silver Proof Set Sales Debut

While sales of nearly every silver numismatic product was higher, it was the debut of the 2012 Silver Proof Set that topped them all with a starting figure of 189,628 in its first week on the chart.

The U.S. Mint launched this year’s annual set on Monday, June 4, 2012, and 189,628 were picked up by collectors by the following Monday. Silver Eagle San Francisco Coin Set Orders Top 115,000 in 5 Days

In a bit over 24 hours, collectors ordered 85,341 of the 2012 American Silver Eagle San Francisco Two-Coin Proof Set. In five days, orders reached 115,059. Given that each coin set is priced at $149.95, the U.S. Mint has already grossed $17,248,598.55 in sales.

2012 American Silver Eagle Two Coin Set Released

Today, June 7, 2012, the United States Mint was inundated with orders for its newly released 2012 American Silver Eagle Two Coin Set.

How many orders were placed will not be known until Friday, but early volume resulted in U.S. Mint phone lines that were often inaccessible and a website that was either extremely slow, timing out, or recovering from a crash. Inaugural U.S. Mint sales for the 2012 Star-Spangled Banner Bicentennial Silver Dollar Set and 2012 El Yunque National Forest 5 Ounce Silver Coins appear on this week’s report, with the winner being the set. The majority of attention, however, went to the Proof Silver Eagle.

2012 Australian Year of the Dragon 5 Ounce Silver Proof Coin Available

The Perth Mint of Australia continues its highly successful Lunar Series II with the release of the 2012 Year of the Dragon 5 Ounce Silver Proof Coin. This proof coin features the same basic imagery as previous Year of the Dragon incarnations, but is struck from a massive five ounces of 99.9% pure silver.

A maximum mintage for the coin has been established by the Perth Mint of just 5,000. The limited edition strike is currently available for AUS $450.00, or $437 in U.S. dollars. Read More…
