US Mint Authorized Purchasers bought 1,696,000 bullion Silver Eagles on Monday, January 3. This includes new 2011 issues and some 2010’s. Prior to that, none were purchased since Wednesday, December 22, after the monthly total hit 1,772,000.

A new update was posted for the 2010 Proof American Silver Eagles. Sales climbed 21,477 to end at 856,356. The US Mint stopped selling them on Tuesday, December 28. The jump moved silver coins to the third highest selling record for the series. The proof issues in 1986 and 1987 have the first and second all-time high records with 1,446,778 and 904,732, respectively.

The 2010 Silver Proof Set came in higher, increasing 8,361 compared to 7,768 previously. As a reminder, the 2011 Silver Proof Set launches on January 25. However, the US Mint is expected to keep the 2010 sets available until the end of the year.

The 2010 Quarters Silver Proof Set doubled its weekly gain with sales of 3,613 versus 1,441 in the last round.

Finally, 299,164 was the newest total for the 2009 Quarters Silver Proof Set. It fell by 14. Interestingly, the US Mint halted their sales on Tuesday, October 26, 2009, but has adjusted their number seven times since.
