US Mint Silver Coin Sales Revival

Remarkably for this time of year, nearly all U.S. Mint products with silver coins experienced stronger week-over-week sales, per the most recent numismatic stats. Commemoratives, sets, and even the two five ounce silver coins saw higher demand from consumers.
2014 Silver Proof Sets led sales of all U.S. Mint silver products
This week’s top performer in the white metal category was the 2014 Silver Proof Set, which climbed by 6,860 after notching 4,020 in the prior round. Its weekly average had been hanging around the 4,000 marker for the past month. With this latest surge, the silver set’s year-to-date total came to 277,297.
In a more dramatic turnabout, 2014-W Proof Silver Eagles rebounded by 5,893 following a huge plunge of -6,108 in the previous week. The U.S. Mint sells these 99.9% pure silver coins for $52.95 each, and now the total purchased is up to 623,621.
Only two silver collectibles under-performed, sort-of. 2014-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles added 2,293 compared to last week’s very atypical surge of 9,260, and the sold-out Great Smoky Mountains 5 Ounce Silver Coins tied with the previous week, with an addition of 5. The U.S. Mint stopped selling Great Smoky Mountains coins in May.
