2014 Australian Map Shaped Saltwater Crocodile Silver Coin Released

The largest living reptile in the world is featured on the reverse of the new 2014 Map Shaped Saltwater Crocodile Silver Coin.
This issue is composed of one ounce of .999 fine silver and offered as the sixth release in a series of popular coins struck in the shape of the Australian continent. Mintage of the coin is limited to 6,000 with pricing listed as AUS $94.55, or US $83.32.
The Australian map shaped series debuted in 2012 and has seen the following issues:

- 2012 Australian Map Shaped Emu Coin
- 2013 Australian Map Shaped Kangaroo Coin
- 2013 Australian Map Shaped Platypus Coin
- 2014 Australian Map Shaped Koala Coin
According to the Perth Mint of Australia, the first four coins have sold out with the fifth release nearing the point.
Saltwater Crocodile Silver Coin Design, Specifications and Order Details
Designed by Ing Ing Jong, a saltwater crocodile appears on the reverse of the new coin along with a colorful background of wild wetlands seen at sunset. Inscribed above the image is AUSTRALIAN CROCODILE and 1 oz 999 SILVER. Below is the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the year 2014.
Each coin is struck as legal tender of Australia under the Australian Currency Act of 1965. As such, the obverse bears Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II along with the inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2014 and 1 DOLLAR.
