Issued on January 25, the 2011 Silver Proof Set topped 400,000 in sales this week by gaining 6,002. The 400,000 level would have been reached earlier had the set not been suspended for several weeks. The US Mint in April halted their sale, along with its other silver sets, as silver prices soared above $40 an ounce and then toward $50. The 2011 Silver Proof Set remained off sale from mid-April until its return in early May. This year’s set has a ways to go before catching last year’s issue, however. The United States Mint on Monday, May 23, began selling the Olympic National Park 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coin to its established network of Authorized Purchasers (AP’s). AP’s purchased 60,700 on the first day, according to the latest coin sales figures provided by the bureau.

The Olympic silver bullion coin, honoring the national park in Washington, is the third 2011 issue from the Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coins Program, and the eighth since the series started in 2010. Read More…

Yellowstone National Park Five Ounce Silver Coin

Sales of the 2010-P Yellowstone National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin were exceptional on launch day. Debuting on Tuesday, May 17, at noon Eastern Time, the United States Mint indicated that the majority of the collector uncirculated coins had been ordered by day’s end.

The Mint recorded total sales of 18,143 during the first day. The amount places customers’ interest in the coin almost on par with the debut strike of the five ounce series, the Hot Springs uncirculated coin which premiered last month. Read More…

There was another sellout of super large 5-ounce coins, silver sets’ momentum erupted, and bullion American Silver Eagles spiked again. While those products shared the limelight, commemorative silver coins eased in this round of United States Mint sales figures.

The US Mint’s network of Authorized Purchasers gobbled up the last 2011 Gettysburg National Military Park 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins and all of the 2011 Glacier National Park 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins. Both debuted on April 25 with an initial expected mintage of 126,500. That grew to 126,700 by Monday, May 16, when the US Mint indicated they had sold out. Read More…

Yellowstone 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin

The United States Mint released the 2010-P Yellowstone National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin today, May 17, at 12 noon Eastern Time for $279.95.

Solid demand and a possible sell out are in the winds based on the success of the previous issue, the Hot Springs National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. It sold out within two weeks of its debut and most of the orders were placed within the first several hours of its launch.

Like the Hot Springs issue, the Yellowstone silver uncirculated coin has a maximum mintage of 27,000 and an ordering limit of one per household. If it is still available after one week, the United States Mint may re-evaluate the order limit and possibly adjust it. However, the limit remained in place for the duration of the Hot Springs’ availability. Read More…
