Canadian Mint Offers 2011 Silver $20 Coin at Face Value

The Royal Canadian Mint is now offering Canadian residents the opportunity to purchase a legal tender 2011 $20 coin at face value. More intriguing, the coin is composed of .9999 fine silver instead of the cheaper combinations of metals which are within standard circulating coinage.
The amount of the precious metal is far from token. Each of the Canadian $20 coins weighs 7.96 grams, giving them a melt value equal to about one quarter of an ounce of pure silver. Read More…
US Mint Sales: 2011 Army Silver Dollars Debut at 67,593

Another highly anticipated 2011-dated silver product debuted in the most recent US Mint weekly sales report. The 2011 United States Army Silver Dollar Commemorative Coins hit the street on Monday, January 31, and they racked up 67,593 across both proof and uncirculated options.
Broken out, the proofs won the race with 46,895, and the uncirculated trailed with a solid 20,698. Not a bad start, considering these silver dollars are competing with other commemorative coins of a similar theme, the U.S. Army clad half-dollars and U.S. Army $5 gold coins. Read More…
UFWC Releases Prototype Eco-Coin in Ecosilver

The organizers of the United Future World Currency (UFWC) have launched the world’s first ever "eco-coin" at this year’s World Money Fair.

The United Future World Currency's first ever eco-coin has the same coin specifications as the Britannia silver bullion coin issued by the UK Royal Mint. It is struck in ecosilver. Ecosilver is made with a new process that utilizes scrap metals more responsibly which creates a bullion product with less waste and energy. This eco-coin is composed of .958 fine silver, weighs 32.45 grams and has a diameter of 40 mm.

New legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives that would honor Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, with commemorative silver dollars and $5 gold coins.
The Ronald Reagan Commemorative Coin Act of 2011, H.R. 497, was introduced by Ohio’s Congressman Bob Latta on January 26, 2011. The legislation, the first in 2011 related to coinage, has language that would authorize a maximum of 300,000 Ronald Reagan commemorative silver dollars and 50,000 Ronald Reagan commemorative $5 gold coins. 2011 Silver Eagle Bullion Coins Shatter Monthly Sales Record in January

American Silver Eagle bullion coins are off to a stellar start in 2011, registering monthly sales never before seen in the history of the program. 6,422,000 of the .999 fine silver coins were ordered by authorized dealers during January 2011, according to United States Mint sales figures.
Not only did the monthly sales attain the new record, the old one was shattered by a margin of 2.162 million coins. The previous monthly record was established in November 2010 when 4,260,000 Silver Eagles were sold. Calculated out, the new record represents an improvement of over 50%. Read More…

The Royal Canadian Mint has released the 2011 Grizzly silver bullion coin, its latest issue within the Canadian Wildlife coin series.
