2010 Commemorative Silver Dollar Prices: Boy Scouts and Disabled Vet Coins

The United States Mint has published the prices for its two 2010 Commemorative Silver Dollar Coins. As it has done in the past, the US Mint will offer reduced, introductory pricing.
The 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Commemorative Silver Dollar launches first on February 25, 2010, in proof and uncirculated conditions for $39.95 and $33.95, respectively. Those prices will be available through to March 29, 2010, when it will be offered at the regular prices of $43.95 and $35.95.
The 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar will launch on March 23, 2010, with the same coin options and at the same prices. The intro pricing lasts through April 22, 2010. Read More…
Silver Weekly Prices Jump 4.2% in New York

Silver prices marked gains in the second week in February after tumbling nearly 20% during the three prior weeks.
Despite slight losses on Friday, weekly silver prices jumped 4.2% in New York and 1.1% in London.
For the most part, silver followed gold’s direction, and gold moved opposite of the US dollar. The greenback was driven mostly by news from Europe and China. The Greece debt crisis was a headline for much of the week, moving the dollar both up and down. Read More…

For the third year in a row, the Perth Mint of Australia is offering a twist on its highly sought after koala silver coins. This one is in the form of its newly released 2010 Australian Gilded Koala Silver 1 oz. Coin.
To create this unique coin, the Mint takes the same design as seen on the silver bullion koala series and gilds the marsupial with 24-karat gold, giving an impression of fur on the animal.

Silver Tumbles Nearly 20% in Three Weeks

Silver prices ended the first week in February with deepened losses. The metal has caved by almost 20 percent since mid-January.
While the enormous losses could present a buying opportunity next week, little is in the news front to suggest a direction of north or south. Precious metals have thus far been commanded by the winding of the US dollar, which rallied this week to an 8-month high against the euro. Silver coins, while certainly not the main focus of the United States Mint 2009 Annual Report, did figure prominently in many of the sales results shown within its pages.
Almost without a doubt, the insatiable appetite for precious metals displayed by investors last year created the biggest impact on US Mint operations.
