Silver Prices Surge in First 2010 Trading Week

Silver prices were smoking hot during the first full week of trading in 2010. For the week, the metal soared 9.6 percent in New York and was fixed 6.7 percent higher in London.

US Mint 2010 Silver Product Release Schedule

The United States Mint has released a preliminary schedule for its 2010 offerings. With nearly 40 products listed, several items stand out relating to US Mint silver coins.

The 2010 Silver Commemoratives Coins are front and center. While no firm dates are listed, the Mint has provided February and March as the respective launch months for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar and the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar.

These two programs are similar in that they each has the same coin specifications, 350,000 mintage limits and authorized striking of both proof and uncirculated options. Many collectors expect that the BSA coins will sell out, making their release one of the most anticipated in years. Read More…
