One thing on the minds of collectors last week, the United States Mint sales stats revealed, was silver coins.

2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set

2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets were the second best seller for the U.S. Mint

All three of the most purchased U.S. Mint products contained silver, and all three enjoyed higher week-over-week increases.

2013-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coins have been the silver product leader since they arrived on the scene on January 24, 2013. In the latest report, sales for the one ounce 99.9% pure silver proofs leaped by 23,506 as compared to 21,592 previously. Altogether, orders of these coins exceed the 300K milestone and reached 303,958 as of February 11, 2103.

Containing five quarters in 90% silver, sales of 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets advanced 3,237. In the prior round, collectors snatched up 2,330 sets. Figures to-date total 67,769 since the U.S. Mint released them on January 8, 2013.

The third best seller was a silver coin from last year. The U.S. Mint is still selling 2012-W American Silver Eagle Uncirculated Coins, and the number of orders went up 1,933, which was slightly better than the 1,733 taken a week earlier. While collectors will have to wait until sometime in May to purchase this year’s strike, the 2012 version has been available since August 2. So far, 194,135 sold.
