Truman Set Sales Adjust Modestly After Sellout

With summer in full swing and Americans celebrating one of their favorite holidays last weekend, it seemed like U.S. Mint silver coin sales imitated fireworks: a big explosion followed by some fizzle. Examples would be the 2015 Harry S. Truman Coin and Chronicles Set and bullion American Silver Eagles.

As reported last week, the Harry Truman Coin and Chronicles Set sold out 15 minutes after it launched on Tuesday, June 30. In this round of sales stats, the set’s total figure inched up by 45 to 16,825. Its published mintage limit is 17,000 and its status on the Mint’s website has been, "currently unavailable."

On Tuesday this week, the U.S. Mint halted sales of its bullion American Silver Eagles so they could make more. Yesterday, however, their sales went up 100,000 to 2,709,000 for July. It will be interesting to watch what happens in this arena, considering that July was typically a slow month for the investor strikes over past few years. 2014 was a record year, but in July only 1,975,000 sold.
