Both the obverse and reverse of the Aguntum silver coin feature imagery emblematic of the town located in present-day Austria. It served as an important trade center of the Roman Empire two millennia ago. Orders for the Grand Canyon 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin are quickly approaching their maximum limit of 27,000, according to the latest US Mint sales figures, while demand continues to boom for 2011 Proof Silver Eagles and 9/11 Silver Medals.

It should not take long for collectors to scoop up the remaining 738 Grand Canyon silver coins. That was all that remained after 2,045 of them sold during the past week, following news that the US Mint removed its order limits. Collectors who are considering buying one or more of the popular 9/11 Silver Medals should take action soon, before the United States Mint increases their prices. Their price tags are scheduled to rise $10 on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 5 PM Eastern Time.

When the commemorative medals were released on June 20, 2011, each was made available with an introductory price of $56.95. Buyers can choose the United States Mint facility that produces them, either West Point or Philadelphia. Since their release, a total of 117,364, or 5.86 percent of the maximum 2,000,000 mintage, have been purchased up as of Monday, August 8. Read More…

The 2011 Golden Hind Silver Proof Coin is now available from The Perth Mint of Australia as the second strike in its Ships That Changed the World Series. A maximum of 5,000 of the silver coins will be released by the Mint.

The hottest ticket in silver sales are the ever-popular 2011 Proof Silver Eagle, according to the latest US Mint figures. During the past week, collectors scooped up another 22,093, although, that impressive amount was less than the 28,522 purchased previously. Since their debut on June 30, a remarkable 644,076 Silver Eagles have been sold.

Placing second and third at the top of the chart were the 9/11 Silver Medals. The West Point strikes ran forward another 13,568 and the Philadelphia strikes followed with 8,744. Their combined sales equaled 22,312 which was up significantly from their climb of 13,410 in the prior round. Read More…

American Silver Eagle Uncirculated Coin

The United States Mint has provided a release date for the 2011-W American Silver Eagle Uncirculated Coin on its online "Scheduled Products Listing" page. According to that schedule, the uncirculated Silver Eagle will be available on September 15, 2011.

While the release date is subject to change, it indicates that the numismatic strike will make a return to the Mint’s line-up. The uncirculated coin has been missing as a Mint product offering since it last appeared in 2008.

The United States Mint opted to cancel production of the collector grade coin in 2009 and 2010. Both of those years saw unprecedented demand for the related bullion American Silver Eagle which the Mint was required by law (at the time) to produce to meet demand. Read More…
