Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set Issued Today

As a reminder, the Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set will be issued today, Oct. 15, at noon ET by the United States Mint.
The US Mint first added the set to its online store in September, and ever since, excitement has been building in the collector community.
The price of the commemorative product is $55.95, plus a standard $4.95 shipping and handling charge. There is a one (1) order limit per household enforced, with 50,000 the maximum available. Read More…

Excitement is certainly gathering in anticipation of the US Mint’s release of the 2009 Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set this Thursday, Oct. 15, at noon (Eastern Time).
The coin-related online blogs and news sites have been warning readers of the high likelihood of a one day sell-out of the sets, and that is even with the household order limit in place by the Mint of one per household.
While you could hardly classify the pre-launch interest as a frenzy, or even call it the same level we experienced for the Lincoln Cents, perhaps it should be. The Mint had 325,000 of the Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Proof Dollars (the same one that will be included in the Lincoln Chronicles set) available earlier this year. Silver Coin Melt Values at Fresh Highs

Silver coin melt values registered fresh highs last week, displacing the previous peaks reported just three weeks ago. The gains came as a result of record silver prices, with London silver reaching $17.80 an ounce on Thursday.
Despite a 17 cent retreat on Friday to $17.63 an ounce, the metal is sporting an incredible gain of $6.84, or 63.4 percent, for the year as compared to the $10.79 closing price on Dec. 31, 2008. Silver Prices Soar in NY and London

Despite ending lower on Friday, silver prices blasted off this week with London silver surging 8.8 percent and New York silver soaring 9 percent. To the numbers…
New York silver futures for December delivery closed Friday at $17.69 an ounce, jumping $1.46 from last Friday’s close of $16.23.
London silver roared ahead $1.42 on the week to end Friday at $17.63. The metal is up an incredible 63.4 percent for the year as compared to the $10.79 closing price on Dec. 31, 2008
"There are better opportunities in silver and palladium," Jim Rogers, a famed investor known for his bullish calls on commodities, was quoted Thursday on MarketWatch. "Silver is still 70% below its all-time high,” while palladium, standing at around $310 an ounce, is also much lower than its high above $1,000 an ounce hit in early 2001."
