US Mint silver coin salesSilver has definitely been receiving attention, and it showed in the most recent United States Mint sales figures. Every numismatic product was higher, beating the prior week’s gains for a second straight time. Bullion silver coins on the other hand cooled, but only a tad.

Even the 2010 Silver Proof Set outpaced its last impressive advance of 19,828 with another 22,244 added. Its at 339,564 after only one month on sale. In one more week, it is very likely that the 2010 set will pass the halfway marker achieved by 2009 Silver Proof Sets. The unofficial total from last year’s set came to 694,406.

America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets racked up another 4,471 after climbing 2,732. The silver quarters have been on sale since May 27, 2010, and they have been averaging a respectable weekly gain of 4,484 over the last six weeks. Their new total hit 185,843. Last year’s quarters set is also still available. They accumulated another 977, bringing their number to 293,685.

The two silver dollar coins received a shot in the arm, as both made solid advances. The American Veterans Disabled for Life proof increased 3,634, which was its biggest spike in 12 weeks. The uncirculated coin also climbed, rising 993. Their previous additions had been 2,173 and 477, respectively.

As for bullion American Silver Eagles, they did not jump quite as high as before, but they came close. They added 635,000 versus 655,000 during the prior week. A slim difference. September may end as the slowest month for the entire year, however, since sales were so sluggish during the first few weeks. The current monthly tally is 1,680,000. Right now February is the furthest down in the monthly 2010 sales ladder, at 2,050,000. September must climb more than 370,000 in two days to beat it. As for the year-to-date total, it shattered the 25M milestone and is sitting at 25,280,500. The 2010 Silver Eagles will break last year’s annual record when 3,486,000 more are purchased.
