US Silver Coin Sales Stats – Apr 23

April 23, 2009 by Silver Coins Today

US Mint silver coin sales statsInterest in Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollars picked up over the prior sales stats, but demand for other silver coins and sets waned for the third straight week, according to the newest United States Mint sales figures.

Braille Silver Dollar sales surged, jumping to 19.8 percent for the proof option versus the prior 12.6 percent. From a pure numbers standpoint, 9,389 more were sold to bring the proof total up to 56,794. The uncirculated Braille options performed better as well, with their total sales now at 36,372.

Combining all options, 93,166 coins have been sold since they went on sale March 26.

2009 DC & US Territories Silver Proof Set climbed by 11, 575 to pass the 100,000 mark. That represents a respectable 13.2 percent increase over the previous reported total, but the pace has slowed.

Lincoln Silver Dollar figures remain unchanged for the third straight week. The maximum amount of individual coins have sold out, which leaves 50,000 proof coins reserved for the special 5-coin set coming later this year.
